Etiquette
If this is your first visit at Iyashi Bedrock Spa please arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to fill
the necessary forms:
The last appointment start time is 1.5 hours before the spa closes: 7:30pm on weekdays and 4:30pm on weekends.
We provide all our guests with a locker and key to use to store their belongings in.
For the comfort of others, please refrain from using your cell phone in the cool down room.
Please note there is no talking allowed in the traditional treatment room since this disturbs our other guests. This includes during our
Hot Yoga sessions. If you are in the deluxe suite, quiet talking is allowed (if you are too
loud, the guests in the Traditional suite will be able to hear you). Your cooperation in
providing a tranquil environment is greatly appreciated. You can talk freely in the cool down room.
Please keep the doors to the treatment rooms closed after you leave or enter the room to prevent the heat from escaping.
Hot Yoga Session - during your class, please do not leave the locker key on your wrist since this makes noise for the other guests when you
are doing your Yoga moves. Also, if you do need to leave the class while the instruction is still in progress, please leave quietly.
If you are having an RMT Massage after your Rock Bathing or Hot Yin Yoga class, please either change into your street clothes or
bring your clothes and belongings with you to the Massage room and then change into them afterwards.
Please note that if you arrive late for an appointment, in the deluxe suite, your treatment time will be shortened if there is an appointment
after you.
To cancel your individual appointment we request 24 hours notice so as to avoid any penalties
or fees.
What to Expect
Each of our guests are provided with the following:
- A key to one of our lockers to store your belongings in.
- A set of towels (1 large, to lie down on and a medium sized towel to fold for a pillow)
- Disposable Slippers
- For Rock Bathing we provide a custom made cotton Iyashi Spa outfit, consisting of a short robe and draw-string capri style
pants, disposable underwear and a small towel to wipe off the sweat.
- We recommend you bring your own workout clothes for the hot yoga since you need something that
you can stretch in.
- You will be asked to change into your spa wear or workout clothes, to lock your belongings in your
locker, and drink 1 or 2 glasses of water.
Rock Bathing
- An Iyashi Spa Attendant will place two towels, on one of the Black Silica stone beds, for you (a large one for you to lie down on
and a medium sided towel rolled up for a pillow, for your head)
- You then lie down on the long towel for approximately 15-20 minutes at a time, and then enter the cool down room for
around 5 minutes. This can be repeated 3-4 times to make up the 60 minute session.
- A spa attendant can let you know when to come out for a break, or you can look at one of the clocks in the room.
- While on the spa bed, you can get the most benefit by lying down in different positions so the heat can penetrate as many areas of the body as possible.
For example, lie on your stomach for 5-10 minutes, and then on your back for 5-10 minutes (feet flat on the bed or legs stretched out).
After a 5 minute cool down break, you can lay on each side for 5-10 minutes each and then on your back or stomach again (whichever is most comfortable). If you have any joint pain, you should try to place the sore area of your body on the black stones. The heat will go directly to the pain and provide relief.
You will sweat profusely! However it will not be a sticky sweat, like regular perspiration; it will be more like sweating water (as well as the toxins from your body). Because of this, you should drink plenty of water Eprior to the treatment, in the cool down room, and at the end of the treatment, to avoid dehydration.
- The Iyashi Spa attendant will let you know when there are 10 minutes left of your 60 or 90 minute treatment. This will allow you time to shower and change back into your regular clothes. Since the sweat produced is like water, it dries fast and does not leave you feeling like you need to shower. It is actually recommended not to shower for at least two hours to gain the most benefits for your skin and hair.
- Please remember to put the disposable spa wear into the recycling bins, and place your towels and spa outfits into the laundry baskets. The locker key can be given to the spa attendant or receptionist.
- We request payment at the end of your treatment, unless you have prepaid. If you would like to
purchase a package you can use your first treatment as the first of your package.
Hot Rock / Hot Yoga Session
We have a 90 minute service that includes 30 minutes of rock bathing on our black silica stone
beds, followed by a 60 minute Yin Yoga class. This is held in the Traditional Treatment room with a
maximum class size of 15.
Yin Yoga is a slow, deep practice that increases flexibility by stretching and stimulating the
connective tissue of the hips and spine rather than the muscles. This is a deeply relaxing
and rejuvenating form of Yoga. All the poses are sitting down or lying down and are held
for 2-3 minutes at a time, which allows our customers to get the maximum contact with the
black silica stone beds.
- Instead of doing the hot yoga in a room that just has the temperature turned up high, the yoga at our spa is actually performed on our heated black silica stone beds (in the traditional suite)
- Provides double the benefits since you get the benefits of the yoga session and the benefits of the Ganbanyoku treatment
- Since the heat comes from the floor, this is different from any other hot yoga you may have experienced
- Our male customers are welcome to join our yoga classes
